Provision of Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Technology and Support

It is anticipated that the United Nations Procurement Division will be issuing a solicitation for the above subject requirement.

Increasingly, UN missions operate in diverse and hazardous environments and are targeted by hostile elements. The pattern of these asymmetrical threats includes hostile intelligence gathering by using unmanned aerial systems. Furthermore, these systems have been used in certain theatres for direct and indirect attacks including the delivery of grenades or improvised explosive devices.

To mitigate the risks faced by peacekeepers and UN personnel, the Organization is pursuing a solution to counter the threat from hostile UAS. This C-UAS capability is focused on the Nano, Micro and Mini UAS (as described in Brooke-Holland classification) operating using mostly unrestricted frequencies.

The goal of the UN is to obtain a reliable C-UAS solution that meets the unique demands of the organisation establishing a Systems Contract for the provision of equipment and support.

The solution ultimately chosen by the UN shall be scalable to any UN peacekeeping mission with conditions established through a systems contract. The UN anticipates establishing long term agreements (LTAs) with vendors in order to ensure operational and geographical coverage. Due to the nature of the mandates of the organization the UN is not able to commit to any specific volume of usage under the resulting contract.
