Item Description:
The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) is seeking expression of interest from qualified contractors for the restoration of two buildings (Bldgs. 3 and 241) at its Premises in Brindisi, Italy. The restoration works shall include the provision of materials and labor for roof replacement, waterproofing, electrical, plumbing, and other civil works.
1) Bldg. 3 requires roof replacement due to its instability. Bldg. 3 is a 230 square meter, one-story office building built in the late 40s with an extension added in the early 80s. It has a bearing wall structure with different roof typologies. The demolition works for the roof replacement are invasive; therefore, the project includes propaedeutic civil and electrical works to return the building its initial functional and hygienic conditions. The Works is required to be completed within one hundred-forty (140) working days.
2) Bldg. 241 requires waterproofing of its roof due to the crystallization of the existing membrane. Bldg. 241 is an 890 square meter building utilized for office space and workshop. The current waterproofing system includes 12 roof vents. The requirement is for the provision and installation of two new layers of waterproofing membranes. The first layer shall be a 3mm bituminous membrane (two layers of low- maintenance reinforced bitumen polymer membranes with shear resistance of 350/250 N/50mm – the top layer shall be granule-surfaced), and the second layer shall be 4.5 kg/m2 granule embedded membrane. The joints of the two layers must be perpendicular to one another, and the joints between the membranes of each layer must have an overlap of 10 cm. All clean joints must be heat welded. The Works is required to be completed within ninety (90) working days.
The UNGSC may consider awards of two separate turn-key projects. Depending on the contract award, the contractor can either start the two projects simultaneously or in sequence. In both circumstances, once started, works must be carried out without interruptions.
