The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) was created by the United Nations General Assembly on 11 December 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. In 1950, UNICEF’s mandate was extended to address the long-term needs of children and women in developing countries everywhere. In 1953 it became a permanent part of the United Nations System, and the words “international” and “emergency” were dropped from the organization’s name, making it simply the United Nations Children’s Fund, retaining the original acronym, “UNICEF”.

UNICEF has a requirement for the establishment of a Long term agreement (LTA)(s) for the provision of In Country Road Transportation Services to UNICEF, UN sister agencies and partners in South Sudan. The LTA will be established for an initial period of 2 years, with the ability to extend the LTA(s) further on mutual agreement and good performance by the supplier.  The LTA(‘s) will be established by UNICEF but will be open to all other UN agencies in South Sudan to utilize.
