Item Description:
The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) or Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD) is a multilateral development finance institution. The AfDB was founded in 1964 and comprises three entities: The African Development Bank, the African Development Fund and the Nigeria Trust Fund. The AfDB’s mission is to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that are likely to contribute to the economic and social development of the region. The AfDB is a financial provider to African governments and private companies investing in the regional member countries (RMC).
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat has received financing from the African Development Bank toward the cost of the Southern African Regional Climate Information Services for Disaster Resilience Development (SARCIS-DR) Project, and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this grant to payments under the contract for Consultancy for Development of a web-based Regional Meteorological Alert System for SADC Region.
As part of implementation of SARCIS-DR in SADC, the Climate Services Centre (CSC) is recruiting an International Short Term Expert on Meteo Alarm system.
The objective of the consultancy is to develop a web-based SADC operational regional alert system (such as Meteo Alarm) to be hosted on SADC CSC website.
The SADC Secretariat now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (description of similar assignments and experience in the region).
Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s Procurement Framework, dated October 2015, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.

Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by Thursday 3 October 2019 at 14h00 hours Botswana time and mention Consultancy for Development of a web-based Regional Meteorological Alert System for SADC Region.
