Item Description:
The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking offers for the provision of clearing and forwarding services, and wishes to enter into a long term agreement (LTA) with suitable Contractors. The contract is anticipated to run for a period of three years renewable subject to provision of quality services. Your firm is invited to submit a proposal for the services in response to this Request for Proposals (RFP.
WHO is a public international organization, consisting of 194 Member States, and a Specialized Agency of the United Nations with the mandate to act as the directing and coordinating authority on international health work. As such, WHO is dependent on the budgetary and extra-budgetary contributions it receives for the implementation of its activities. Bidders are, therefore, requested to propose the best and most cost-effective solution to meet WHO requirements, while ensuring a high level of service
Requirements
The successful bidder shall be an established institution operating in the field of clearing and forwarding with proven expertise in air and sea shipments. The Contractor is required to provide clearing and forwarding services, in its capacity as an accredited Customs clearing agent in the nation of Kenya, as and when requested by WHO. The main scope of services will include the clearance of air and sea shipments summary as follows:
- Air imports of supplies – Airfreight clearance on duty free basis; preparation and processing of documentation; arrangement of proper warehousing facilities and delivery to the final destination; arrangement of required transit insurance, when required, up to the place of final destination; and provisional clearance pending confirmation and approval of documents.
- Sea imports of supplies – Sea import clearance for loose and containerized cargo including motor vehicles duty free basis; organize railage/road transportation from Mombasa to Nairobi; preparation and processing of documentation; arrangement of proper warehousing facilities and delivery to the final destinations; arrangement of required transit insurance up to the place of final delivery; and provisional clearance pending confirmation and approval of documents.
Additional services, if required, will include:
- Export of office supplies – Preparation and processing of documentation; collection and packaging of supplies and processing documentation.
- Clearance of personal effects and staff motor vehicle clearance as requested by the office, and to be paid by the staff members.
- Transportation and movement of staff members’ personal effects upon completion of assignment in Nairobi.
