Item Description:
The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) or Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD) is a multilateral development finance institution. The AfDB was founded in 1964 and comprises three entities: The African Development Bank, the African Development Fund and the Nigeria Trust Fund. The AfDB’s mission is to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that are likely to contribute to the economic and social development of the region. The AfDB is a financial provider to African governments and private companies investing in the regional member countries (RMC).
Request for Expressions of Interest (REOI)
The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has received financing from the AfDB towards the cost of 220kV Transmission line and Submarine Cables Project from Tanzania Mainland to Zanzibar Island (Unguja and Pemba) and Mafia District located in Pwani Region.
The Government intends to utilize part of the loan towards eligible payments for Consultancy Services for “undertaking Feasibility Study, ESIA, Conceptual Design and Tender Document” of 220kV Transmission Line and Submarine Cables from Tanzania Mainland to Zanzibar Island (Unguja and Pemba) and Mafia District with associated Substations.
The services under this assignment will comprise:
- Undertake the Feasibility Study (including Economic/Financial Analysis), ESIA, and preparation of Conceptual Engineering Designs including Technical Specifications for the 220kV Transmission Line to Zanzibar and Mafia District with associated Substations, and
- Preparation of Tender Documents.
The estimated duration of the assignment is approximated to be 9 calendar months.
TANESCO now invites eligible consultants to express their interest in providing the above-mentioned services. Interested Consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (e.g., brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff and company registration details, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.
Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s “Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations” October 2015, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.
