Technical Assistance on Assessing the Effectiveness of the Implementation of the Definition of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises for the Purposes of Article 8(4) of the Energy Efficiency Directive

Item Description:

This contract is aimed at providing technical assistance to the Commission for the assessment of the implementation of the EU definition of Small and Medium sized Enterprises for the purposes of Article 8(4) of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED). The EU SME definition is used to identify large companies (non-SMEs) which are subject to mandatory energy audits, however its application has encountered some difficulties at national level. The contract would also have to assess the feasibility and implications of possible different definitions to be used for the purposes of Article 8(4).
