Item Description:
The United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi (UNGSC) seeks an appropriately qualified contractor for the Construction of a “Green Island” to be located at the UNGSC compound at Brindisi, Italy. The “Green Island” is an open surface and the area of the intervention extends for about 6000 sq.m. and in its proximity there are an existing photovoltaic park, a radio antenna (30 meters) and a masonry building (Building 178).
The “Green Island” project aims to make significant changes to the area described above, making it self- sufficient both from the point of view of electricity and water supply. It foresees the installation of no. 2 prefabricated metal modules for offices use (FERON and AGMIN manufacturers), plus two others ablution units whose provision and installation not included in the scope of works. On the roof of these structures, photovoltaic panels will need to be installed. The area will be lightened with low LED lights for pedestrian paths, whose installation is included in the scope of work, and the external carriageway will be realized by installing light poles equipped with light source supplied with a small dedicated photovoltaic panel for a height of 6 meters, whose installation is also included in the scope of work.
The “clean” electricity will also be supplied through the installation of a wind turbine of 5 kW rated power, approximately 10 meters high (only installation of the wind turbine included in the scope of work) and an additional photovoltaic section of approx. 10kWp peak power. The result shall be an off-grid power supply system integrating all contributions and using a battery bank for energy storing and supply of the power to the utilities in the area.
The project involves the recovery of rainwater, which will be conveyed to an underground storage tank behind the sanitary facilities, and then reused for sanitation or irrigation of green areas.
