Item Description:
UNICEF’s Procurement Centre in Pretoria (PPC) procures from suppliers in South Africa, covering a wide range of commodities from educational supplies, chemicals, shelter material and vehicles to office furniture, tents, pipes and fittings, etc.
Many of the countries, to which PPC delivers supplies, are difficult to reach and transportation costs are high. It is therefore important that the quality of the goods is in order and that they have been packed and labeled properly to ensure safe arrival and ease of distribution inside the country.
The purpose of the inspection is to reduce the risk to the supply chain and to identify non-conformities of manufacturing defects, so that the preventive and corrective action is taken early and delays and waste arising out of deficient supplies reaching consignee are eliminated. The inspection will cover checking of products and goods in accordance with Purchase Order(PO) specifications/long term arrangements technical requirements; proper packing, marking and documentation check; appropriate treatment of pallets to prevent mold; and will include all such tests necessary to verify various requirements mentioned in the PO.
