Construction Works for Kapenguria-Makutano Town Sewerage System

This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice (GPN) for this project that appeared in UNDB online on 31st March, 2017.

The Government of Kenya has received financing from the African Development Bank in various currencies towards financing the Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Program. It is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for Construction Works for Kapenguria-Makutano Town Sewerage System.

Rift Valley Water Services Board, one of the executing agencies of the program, now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the execution of the above project.

The scope of works for the project includes but not limited to the following under one contract:

1. Construction of Outfall Trunk
2. Construction of main trunk of diameter 315mm, total length 11.2km, uPVC pipe
3. Construction of Secondary trunks of diameter 250mm to 200mm, total length 7.7km, uPVC pipes
4. Construction of Laterals of diameter ranging 200mm, total length 16.2km, uPVC pipes
5. Construction of Sewage Treatment Plant, Capacity 3,000m3/day
6. Sewer Connectivity targeting 650 connections

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the office of the Chief Executive Officer, Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency, Maji Plaza, Prison Road, Off Nakuru – Eldama Ravine Highway, and P.O. Box 2451-20100 Nakuru, Kenya, during office hours (8.00am to 5.00pm East African Time) on week days except public holidays.

A complete set of bidding documents in soft copy (CD) may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the above and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of KES 1,000 (Kenya Shillings One Thousand Only).

The provisions in the Instructions to Bidders and in the General Conditions of Contract are the provisions of the African Development Bank Standard Bidding Document for Procurement of Works.

Bidders are invited for a Pre-bid Meeting which will take place at Kapenguria Water and Sewerage Company Offices in Kapenguria town on 11th December, 2019 at 9.00a.m (East African Time) for any clarifications. Thereafter, Site Visits to the proposed sites will take place on the same day at 11.00pm (East African Time).

Bids must be delivered to the above office on or before 12.00pm East African Time on 8th January, 2020 and must be accompanied by a security (Unconditional Bank Guarantee) of KES 3,000,000 (Kenya Shillings Three Million Only) or equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency with a bid validity period of 120 days from bid submission date.

Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at 12.05pm East African Time on 8th January, 2020 at the offices of:
