Item Description:
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) on behalf of UN Environment Programme invites qualified firms to submit an Expression of Interest ( EOI) for the provision of Laboratory Services to the Joint Medical Services (JMS).
The successful contractor shall be required to provide below laboratory services:
- Pick up of specimens from the UN Clinic (Joint Medical Service unit) located at the UN Gigiri Complex in Nairobi, no later than 9.30 am daily for delivery to the respective laboratory facility.
- Processing of samples according to the tests requested using standard procedures to ensure accurate results in a timely manner.
- Delivery of results within the time frame indicated for each test and as shown in the schedule of laboratory investigations.
- Supply of specimen collection tubes, containers, needles, syringes, transport cool box etc.
- Electronic delivery of summary data and provision of statistics on specific trends, to the Chief Medical Officer at UNON, for management decision-making to guide health promotion and prevention. Such statistics shall be required on monthly basis.
- Support and facilitate sample collection from remote locations in other duty stations located outside of Nairobi city, for laboratory analysis, as and when needed. This may entail provision of courier service from Wilson Airport on arrival.
- Provider will be required to avail a phlebotomist at the UNON clinic from 8.00am to 10.00am (2 hours) every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday except on UN holidays.
- Additionally, provider will train UNON clinicians on their requirements as and when necessary. The phlebotomist assisted by UNON clinicians will undertake the phlebotomy exercise on a daily basis.
- Categories of laboratory services requests that will be required
- Tests related to medical evaluations of candidates for fitness to work.
- Tests related to annual wellness check-up.
- Drop-in clinic or ad hoc tests requests.
Further details, specifications and Terms of Reference shall be provided in the tender document to be issued subsequent to this EOI in due course of time.
UNON reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement of this EOI at any time during the EOI and/or solicitation process. Thus, submitting a reply to this REOI does not automatically guarantee your company will be considered for receipt of the solicitation when issued.
IMPORTANT:
Please note that this REOI is not an invitation for submission of tenders. Its purpose is to identify companies that would be interested and eligible to participate in the solicitation when issued. Companies interested in providing the above services should submit a completed Vendor Response Form. UNON will examine the outcome of this request for EOI and will consider those companies that have expressed their interest providing the required information as to their ability to fulfill the requirement. UNON reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement at any time during the EOI and/or solicitation process.
Vendors MUST be registered in the United Nations Global Market Place (UNGM). Kindly refer to EOI Instruction on registering as a vendor with UNGM.
Vendors MUST provide following requirements as a pre-condition for eligibility to be invited to participate in the tender process
- Provide proof of providing similar services in Nairobi and its environs.
- Provide proof of registration: Certificate of incorporation, license to trade/deal in clinical laboratory services and details of joint ventures/sub-contractor (if any).
- Provide proof of National and international quality standardization accreditation for laboratory services.
