Consultancy Service for Groundwater Assessment, Aquifer Mapping and Well Development

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) or Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD) is a multilateral development finance institution. The AfDB was founded in 1964 and comprises three entities: The African Development Bank, the African Development Fund and the Nigeria Trust Fund. The AfDB’s mission is to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that are likely to contribute to the economic and social development of the region. The AfDB is a financial provider to African governments and private companies investing in the regional member countries (RMC).

The Government of The State of Eritrea has received financing from the African Development Bank toward the cost of the Groundwater Assessment, Aquifer Mapping and Well Development, and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this loan and grant to payments under the contract for the services of Groundwater Assessment, Aquifer Mapping and well Development.

The services included under this project are assessment of groundwater potential in ninety (90) selected communities with a view to facilitate sustainable use and management as a source of water supply and to validate thirteen (13) potential sites that have already been identified as suitable aquifers through groundwater drilling and pump testing. The Ministry of Lands, Water and Environment (MoLWE) will be the Executing Agency for the project. The assignment will be implemented over six (6) calendar months. The project management unit is responsible for day to day coordination of project implementation.

The Ministry of Land, Water and Environment now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint- ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.

Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations, October 2015, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.
