Procurement of Waste Management Equipment

Item Description:

The World Health Organization (WHO) was established in 1948 as a specialized agency of the United Nations. The objective of WHO (www.who.int) is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health. “Health”, as defined in the WHO Constitution, is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. WHO’s main function is to act as the directing and coordinating authority on international health work.

The WHO Secretariat consists of some 8,400 staff at the Organization’s headquarters in Geneva, in the six regional offices and in countries. The Secretariat is headed by the Director-General, who is appointed by the WHA on the nomination of the Executive Board. The head of each regional office is a Regional Director. Regional directors are appointed by the Executive Board in agreement with the relevant regional committee.

Request for Expressions of Interest (REOI)

The WHO Country Office in Georgia invites vendors to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for Procurement of Waste Management Equipment which address the following objectives:

1. Waste transportation equipment: PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER, ABC POWDER – 2 units,  TRANSPORT CONTAINER FOR BIO-HAZARDOUS WASTE – 2 units, SPILLAGE KIT – 10 units.
2. Infectious Waste Storage Equipment: SAFETY GOGGLES – 100 units, WORKING GLOVES / RUBBER GLOVES – 300 units, WATER RESISTANT APRON – 300 units, PPE-01-0 Water resistant boots (Gumboots) – 10 units, HAND RUB DISINFECTANT DISPENSER – 100 units, PAPER TOWEL DISPENSER – 290 units, SOAP DISPENSER – 290 units, GROUND SCALE – MECHANICAL – 1 unit, GROUND SCALE – ELECTRONIC – 10 units, PRESSURE SPRAYER – 2 units, WATER HOSE- 1 unit, COLD-WATER HIGH-PRESSURE CLEANER – 1unit, WARNING LABELS – 20 units.
3. Disposables: SAFETY BOX WHO – 5L – 12000 units, SHARPS CONTAINERS – PLASTIC (SMALL) – 500 units, SHARPS CONTAINERS – PLASTIC (LARGE) 500 units, BAG – INFECTIOUS WASTE (SMALL) – 40000 units, BAG – INFECTIOUS WASTE (LARGE) – 10000 units, BAG – RECYCLABLES/GENERAL WASTE – SMALL- 10000 units, BAG – RECYCLABLES/GENERAL WASTE – LARGE – 5000 units. Waste handling equipment: INFECTIOUS WASTE BIN – SMALL – 220 units, INFECTIOUS WASTE BIN – LARGE – 160 units, GENERAL WASTE BIN – SMALL – 400 units, Transport -Bin-240 – 4 units, Transport -Bin-770 – 4 units, Indoor wheeled trolley – 4 units, FREEZER FOR PATHOLOGICAL / INFECTIOUS WASTE – 1 unit.
4. Mercury phaseout related equipment:  60 L DRUM FOR STORAGE OF MERCURY WASTE – 10 units, MERCURY FREE DIGITAL BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR – 150 units, MERCURY FREE DIGITAL THERMOMETER – 400 units. Note: the quantities are indicative and could be amended based on the proposed unit price.

WHO intends to invite selected vendors to participate in a formal solicitation, via a Request for Proposals (RFP), at a later stage, for the above requirements.  Complete details of the requirements will be included in the solicitation documents.
