The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) or Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD) is a multilateral development finance institution. The AfDB was founded in 1964 and comprises three entities: The African Development Bank, the African Development Fund and the Nigeria Trust Fund. The AfDB’s mission is to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that are likely to contribute to the economic and social development of the region. The AfDB is a financial provider to African governments and private companies investing in the regional member countries (RMC).
Invitation of Bids (IFB)
The Government of the Republic of Uganda through the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) has received financing from the AfDB and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Design and Build of the Upgrading of Laropi-Moyo-Afoji Road (39.3Km), Laropi Bridge (1.0Km) and 5kms of town roads in Laropi & Moyo. For this contract, the Borrower shall process the payments using the Direct Payment disbursement method, as defined in the Bank’s Disbursement Guidelines and procedures for Investment Project Financing.
The Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT) now invites sealed bids from eligible Bidders for the Design and Build of the Upgrading of Laropi-Moyo-Afoji Road (39.3Km), Laropi Bridge (1.0Km) and 5kms of town roads in Laropi & Moyo.
The road is in the Northwest Nile Region of Uganda and traverses Moyo and Adjumani districts. The successful bidder is expected to complete the design and construction works within a period of 48 months. This will be followed by a defects liability period of 24 months.
Bidding will be conducted through the Open Competitive Bidding (International), OCBI procedures as specified in the “Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations,” dated October 2015 and is open to all eligible Bidders as defined in the Procurement Framework.
