Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2 Project – Corridor 4

The Government of India has applied for financing in the amount of US$ 320 million equivalent to INR 2306,94,08,000/- (Indian Rupees Two Thousand Three Hundred Six Crore Ninety Four Lakhs and Eight Thousand only) (approximately) from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) toward the cost of the Chennai Metro Phase II Project – Corridor 4 and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, non-consulting services and consulting services to be procured under this project. This project will be jointly co-financed by the government of India.

The proposed project entails construction of a new corridor in Chennai’s metro system from Light House – Meenakshi College – Poonamalle Byepass. The construction of Chennai’s new Metro system would involve major components like – construction of elevated viaduct; construction of elevated stations; construction of permanent way and General Consultancy (GC) services for management and implementation of the project.

Procurement of contracts financed by AIIB will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the Bank’s Procurement Policy and associated INTERIM OPERATIONAL DIRECTIVES on Procurement Instructions for Recipient (PIR) and is open to all eligible firms and individuals as defined in PIR.

Specific procurement notices for contracts subject to International open Competitive Tender (IoCT) will be announced, as they become available.
