Detailed Design and Construction Supervision of Mwami and Katete Weighbridge

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) or Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD) is a multilateral development finance institution. The AfDB was founded in 1964 and comprises three entities: The African Development Bank, the African Development Fund and the Nigeria Trust Fund. The AfDB’s mission is to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that are likely to contribute to the economic and social development of the region. The AfDB is a financial provider to African governments and private companies investing in the regional member countries (RMC).

The Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) has received financing from the African Development Bank toward the cost of the Multinational Nacala Road Development Project Phase IV, and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this loan to payments under the contract for Consultancy Services for the Detailed Design and Construction Supervision of the Mwami and Katete weigh bridges.

The services included under this project are for the detailed design and construction supervision of the Mwami and Katete weigh bridges. The consultant will be expected to prepare the detailed designs and the bidding document. The Consultant will also be required to tailor the designs to suite the proposed sites while taking into consideration all the requirements of smooth traffic flow and safety.

The Road Development Agency (RDA) now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint- ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.

Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s “Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants” May 2008 Edition revised in July 2012, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.
