Item Description:
The United Nations Office in Geneva (“UNOG”), Switzerland, located at the Palais des Nations, is the largest United Nations Office in Europe, providing conference support and facilitating the multi-lateral international diplomacy of the worldwide community. The United Nations General Assembly approved the establishment of the Strategic Heritage Plan (“SHP”) which includes construction of a new building and the renovation of the existing Palais des Nations for a total of approximetly 200,000 square meters. UNOG will be launching a solicitation to provide design and construction services to reinforce the indoor mobile telephony signal in the new UNOG building.
UNOG seeks expressions of interest from companies wishing to tender the provision of design and construction services to reinforce the indoor mobile telephony signal in the new UNOG building. The new building is currently under construction with an anticipated completion date in Q1 of 2020.
UNOG has decided to deploy a private Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to be shared by various mobile telephony providers (at least three), licenced in Switzerland. It should also be possible to easily increase the number of providers who can use this DAS network. The new system shall accommodate approximately 1500 UN staff who will be working in the 23,000m2 new building. 30-35% of UN staff have corporate phone (expected to increase) and many have at least one private phone.
The selected company will need to perform the engineered design and to provide, install and commission a fully functional and integrated solution. The company will also be required to provide support and maintenance during the waranty period and potentially beyond, within strict response times on site at UNOG.
This system will be delivered in close coordination with the general contractor responsible for the overall construction works.
The detailed scope of work will be given under the Request for Proposal document that will be sent to the firms who respond to this EOI.
Bidders will be expected to have previously worked in designing and installing such systems and have the capability to deal with a complex site and a strict installation timeline.
The UN seeks to promote effective international competition for the goods and service included within this bidding exercise. It is stressed however, that the appointed vendor must be available to be onsite at UNOG during the design and excecution of the works. During the warranty and maintenance periods, the vendor must be onsite within four (4) hours of a request by the UN.
