Item Description:
The World Health Organization (WHO) was established in 1948 as a specialized agency of the United Nations. The objective of WHO (www.who.int) is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health. “Health”, as defined in the WHO Constitution, is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. WHO’s main function is to act as the directing and coordinating authority on international health work.
The WHO Secretariat consists of some 8,400 staff at the Organization’s headquarters in Geneva, in the six regional offices and in countries. The Secretariat is headed by the Director-General, who is appointed by the WHA on the nomination of the Executive Board. The head of each regional office is a Regional Director. Regional directors are appointed by the Executive Board in agreement with the relevant regional committee.
The Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO) is one of the six regions of the WHO. Headquartered in Manila, Philippines, the WPRO works with health authorities and other partners in 37 countries and areas with more than one quarter of the world’s population.
Background
WHO/WPRO have four (4) units of single car passenger elevator/lift installed in 2005 used to transport staff daily located in:
a) Building 1 with 5 stops, 12 person capacity at 800 kg with 60m/min speed,
b) at Building 2 with 4 stops, 8 persons capacity at 550 kg with 60m/min speed,
c) at Building 3 with 4 stops, 6 persons capacity at 450 kg with 60m/min speed and
d) at Building 4 with 4 stops, 20 persons capacity at 1,350 kg with 60m/min respectively and
e) at Building 5 one (1) unit dumbwaiter used to transport the goods only located at the cafeteria kitchen with 2 stops and has a 100 kg capacity.
Objective of the ITB
The purpose of this Invitation to Bid (ITB) is to enter into a contractual agreement with a successful bidder for the supply of the following goods:
WHO/WPRO is looking for a vendor/supplier for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning and associated equipment trainings needed for four (4) units of Passenger Elevator/Lift located in Building 1,2,3 and 4 and Building 5 one (1) unit Dumbwaiter at Cafeteria kitchen equipped with future ready automatic intelligent equipment and safety controls.
WHO is an Organization that is dependent on the budgetary and extra-budgetary contributions it receives for the implementation of its activities. Bidders are, therefore, requested to propose the best and most cost-effective solution to meet WHO requirements, while ensuring a high level of service.
Supply, installation, testing, commissioning and associated equipment trainings needed for four (4) units of Passenger Elevator/Lift located in Building 1,2,3 and 4 and Building 5 one (1) unit Dumbwaiter at Cafeteria kitchen equipped with future ready automatic intelligent equipment and safety controls. The new elevators would need to fit with the current size/dimension of the respective areas for those elevators with very minimal related construction work to be required
Requirements
