The European Patent Organisation (EPO) is an intergovernmental organisation set up pursuant to the European Patent Convention which entered into force in 1977. At present it has 38 member states (Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, France, Germany, Hellenic Republic, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom). Its executive body is the European Patent Office, which is responsible for carrying out searches and examinations of European patent applications and for granting European patents.

The EPO has a requirement for the Provision of operational services in various IT Service areas: 1. VMware; 2. Windows operating systems; 3. Linux operating systems; 4.Mainframe administration; 5. Database administration; 6. Storage and backup administration services including SDS, SAN, DR; 7. Identity and access management; 8. Windows – COTS applications system administration; 9. Applications user administration and configuration; 10. Continuous integration and delivery and middle-tier/backend environments administration; 11. Security / threat-mitigation; 12. Network and general data centre services; 13. Network printing; 14. Knowledge management; 15 Monitoring, Operator and First Level Exception-troubleshooting and 16. Servicedesk.
