Supply, Delivery, Commissioning of Assorted Railway Track Maintenance Equipment including Training of Personnel – EAC Railway Rehabilitation Support Project

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) or Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD) is a multilateral development finance institution. The AfDB was founded in 1964 and comprises three entities: The African Development Bank, the African Development Fund and the Nigeria Trust Fund. The AfDB’s mission is to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that are likely to contribute to the economic and social development of the region. The AfDB is a financial provider to African governments and private companies investing in the regional member countries (RMC).

The Government of Uganda, represented by Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) has received financing from the African Development Fund (ADF) hereinafter called the Bank toward the cost of the EAC Railway Rehabilitation Support Project- Refurbishment of the Kampala – Malaba Railway Line, and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for supply, Delivery, Commissioning of Assorted Railway Track Maintenance Equipment including training for personnel. For this contract, the Borrower shall process the payments using the Direct Payment disbursement method, as defined in the Bank’s Disbursement Guidelines and procedures for Investment Project Financing, except for those payments, which the contract provides to be made through letter of credit.

The Uganda Railways Corporation now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for the Supply, Delivery, Commissioning of Assorted Railway Track Maintenance Equipment including Training of Personnel in various quantities to be delivered at URC Kampala ‘DPF’ Yard in Kampala, Uganda.

Bidding will be conducted through the Open Competitive Bidding (International), (OCBI) method as specified in the Bank’s Procurement Policy for Bank Funded Group Operations, October 2015, and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the Procurement Framework.
