Supply of Essential Goods to Respond to Emergency Situations in UNICEF Country Office in Europe and Central (ECA) Region

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) was created by the United Nations General Assembly on 11 December 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. In 1950, UNICEF’s mandate was extended to address the long-term needs of children and women in developing countries everywhere. In 1953 it became a permanent part of the United Nations System, and the words “international” and “emergency” were dropped from the organization’s name, making it simply the United Nations Children’s Fund, retaining the original acronym, “UNICEF”.

Objective of this tender

UNICEF’s Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (ECARO) is seeking to establish Long Term Arrangements (LTAs) with Corporate Vendors/Manufacturing Companies, Wholesale Distributors and Large Retail Store Chains located in ECA countries and territories to supply essential goods that are likely to be used in emergency situations that might happen in countries and territories in the ECA region[1]. UNICEF will work with the selected vendors to establish supply arrangements that best meet the objectives of this solicitation. Such arrangements will provide the basis upon which purchase orders will be issued by UNICEF Country Offices for emergency supplies. The LTA-G will ensure that procurement can take place at short notice, as and when required, which is critical in case of emergencies, thus, establishing a standing level of readiness for provision of essential emergency supplies and ensuring availability of quality products at competitive prices.
