Item Description:
The United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi (UNGSC) seeks an appropriately qualified contractor for a turn-key project for the preparation of the executive design and construction of a covered workshop area adjacent to a building and the replacement of polycarbonate translucent panels on the roofs of three (3) storage buildings at the UNGSC in Brindisi, Italy.
For the portion of the project related to the Covered workshop area:
The main objective is to provide a covered space for the working activities of the UN staff.
A roof of 1,000 square meters is to be designed on the area adjacent to the south-east side of the building. The roof shall be designed ready to accommodate the installation of photovoltaic panels and shall include rooftop walkway and man-safe lifeline system for easy and safe maintenance.
For the portion of the project related to the Polycarbonate translucent panels replacement at the roofs of three (3) storage buildings:
The main objective of this portion of the project is to replace the polycarbonate translucent panels from the roofs of 990 square meters for each building.
Both portions of the Project will consist of 3 phases:
Phase One: Design and study
-Provision of the Contractor’s safety plan (POS) is required in accordance with Italian Law 81/08 “Testo Unico sulla Salute e Sicurezza sul lavoro” and latest amendments and integrations. If necessary, UNGSC will provide the “Piano di Sicurezza e Coordinamento” – PSC (Safety Coordination Plan) Italian Law 81/08 – “Testo Unico sulla Salute e Sicurezza sul lavoro” and latest amendments and integrations.
– Preparation and submittal of an all-inclusive maintenance plan for all installations, structural and electrical for both the covered workshop area and the polycarbonate translucent panels on the roofs, including delivery of user manual, maintenance manual and maintenance program.
– For the covered workshop area only, provision of Executive Design that must be certified by an accredited engineer with credentials from a professional engineering body that is applicable and recognized in the hosting country.
Phase Two: Execution works
-For the covered workshop area, provision and installation of a hot dip galvanized steel frame covered with insulating sandwich panels. The works shall include lighting, grounding and lightning protection, reinforced concrete foundations, cut and scrap, equipment and manpower to complete the works as per engineering best practice. The recommended metal cover shall be walkable for the proper maintenance of the structure itself and for the eventual installation of photovoltaic panels, therefore rooftop walkway and fall protection solutions shall be dimensioned accordingly. Foundations, structure and electrical systems to be calculated according to the Italian technical standards, based on the recommended pre-sized structure;
– For the polycarbonate translucent panels on the roof of the three buildings, the work includes all accessories, sealants, screws, washers, gaskets, metal ridge covers, spacers, etc. to be provided and installed as per engineering best practice.
– For both portions, management and supervision of the working area, application and observance of the Safety Plan according to Italian Laws and Regulations, provision of all necessary items to ensure safety at the construction site in accordance with the safety plan (POS); and disposal of materials and site cleaning. Phase Three: Testing and certification
-Full testing and provision of certificate of conformity in accordance with Decree 37/2008 for new electrical installations:
- Certificate of conformity
- List of all materials installed (manufacturer, model, type, etc.)
- As-built systems by a certified engineer
– For the covered workshop area only, final structural test (“Collaudo statico”) in accordance with the Italian D.M. 17 January 2018 “NTC 2018”.
Any other activity needed to carry out the outlined works as per best engineering practices.
The Contractor shall provide all necessary material, tools, equipment, services, labor, and vehicles required for this project, and will be responsible for providing all that is necessary to fulfill its contractual obligations, including all submittals and certifications.
The interested companies shall be registered at the Chamber of Commerce business registry for at least the past three (3) years as metal carpentry Company.
No subcontracting is allowed for the portion relevant to the panels replacement, whereas, about the portion relevant to the covered workshop area, the company bidding on this project must be specialized in metal carpentry works and may subcontract the electrical and the concrete foundation portions to a construction company.
