Item Description:
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) that is responsible for issues that concern information and communication technologies. It is the oldest among all the 15 specialised agencies of UN.
The ITU coordinates the shared global use of the radio spectrum, promotes international cooperation in assigning satellite orbits, works to improve telecommunication infrastructure in the developing world, and assists in the development and coordination of worldwide technical standards. The ITU is active in areas including broadband Internet, latest-generation wireless technologies, aeronautical and maritime navigation, radio astronomy, satellite-based meteorology, convergence in fixed-mobile phone, Internet access, data, voice, TV broadcasting, and next-generation networks. The agency also organizes worldwide and regional exhibitions and forums, such as ITU Telecom World, bringing together representatives of government and the telecommunications and ICT industry to exchange ideas, knowledge and technology.
Invitation to Bid
The purpose of this Solicitation is the appointment of a qualified company for the provision of the Deliverables contained in Part IV to the Solicitation Document.
The equipment to be purchased within the project aims at supporting the Ministry of Communications (MC) of the Government of the Republic of Cuba by increasing its capacity to monitor and measure technical parameters of radio stations to locate sources of interference and unauthorized radio stations.
The unmanned fixed monitoring station will cover la Habana and its location is Residencia estudiantil sita en calle 12 entre 3ra. y 1ra. Vedado, La Habana (Coordinates 23.136024 N and 82.407889 W). As a result of its implementation, the Project will increase the capabilities of the MC to operate the national spectrum monitoring system.
Bidders must be aware that all equipment is acquired for the benefit of Cuba under ITU’s development assistance framework. As a result, all equipment will be transferred to the Beneficiary in accordance with ITU’s policies and procedures.
