Purchase of Furniture for the New Offices of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova

Item Description:

The European Union, represented by the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, (referred to below as the contracting authority) is planning to award the contract resulting from the above procurement procedure. The procurement documents consist of the contract notice, the invitation letter, the draft contract and tender specifications with their respective annexes. All documents are available in the attached ZIP File.

Introduction

The European Union is represented through EU Delegations and Offices around the world. They act as the eyes, ears and mouthpiece of the European Commission vis-à-vis the Authorities and population in their host countries.

As such, Delegation offices have multiple functions. Firstly, they are the work place of Delegation staff. Secondly, they are the venue of regular meetings with Members States represented in the country and of various other types of meetings. Finally, they are a place for receiving visitors of different levels including high-level visitors such as Commissioners or Ministers.

The contracting authority intends to conclude a framework contract for the supply of office furniture and related accessories in the new premises of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova.

Description of the office furniture and related accessories

EU Delegation offices must convey an image of solemnity and reliability to the visitor. They must also provide a welcoming atmosphere for the personnel and visitors. The design and materials used must be adequate for the representative function but not opulent. The furniture must combine the highest quality and functionality with modern and uniform design.

The proposed furniture must offer optimal ergonomic comfort. It must be quick and easy to adjust to fit any user, be comfortable and, where appropriate, support the back. The furniture components must guarantee optimal use of space in various settings, be reconfigurable and adjustable. The furniture must also be dirt-resistant and easy to clean.

The type of office furniture under this Framework contract will include a range of primary office furniture and supplementary office furniture.
