Item Description:
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) was created by the United Nations General Assembly on 11 December 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. In 1950, UNICEF’s mandate was extended to address the long-term needs of children and women in developing countries everywhere. In 1953 it became a permanent part of the United Nations System, and the words “international” and “emergency” were dropped from the organization’s name, making it simply the United Nations Children’s Fund, retaining the original acronym, “UNICEF”.
For its efforts to enhance solidarity between nations and reduce the difference between rich and poor states, UNICEF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1965.
Request for proposal (RFP)
UNICEF in Mozambique is seeking proposals from suitably qualified organisations for Establishing Long-Term Agreements (LTA) for ‘Air Freight Forwarder’ Services in Mozambique.
The objective is to contract capable and experienced companies to provide to UNICEF Mozambique ‘Air Freight Forwarder’ services, ensuring that all domestic air cargo is transported correctly and timely, avoiding any extra costs. Companies who possess their own fleet of cargo planes, or who have access to a fleet of cargo planes, will be prioritized, including the ability to land in smaller airstrips. While provision of services by use of planes by existing airlines will be acceptable, UNICEF aims to engage companies with access to their own fleet which would enable targeted distribution of cargo for UNICEF in various locations in a single day which will be particularly beneficial under distribution for emergency response.
The LTAs will be for an initial period of three (3) years which can be renewed subject to evaluation of good performance, UNICEF Country Programme needs and funds availability.
The documents referent to this invitation to bid including the terms of reference must be requested through supplymaputo@unicef.org stating the reference LRPS-EMA-2022-9177890 in the subject line.
Companies eligible to provide these services are invited to submit their proposals (technical and financial) by 23h59 (Maputo time) on 19th October 2022, directly to moztenders@unicef.org.
