Item Description:
The United Nations Global Procurement Support Section (GPSS) in Entebbe, Uganda intends to establish a long term contract for the supply and delivery of reinforcement and structural steel bars on an “as and when required basis”. It is anticipated that the contract will have an initial period of two (2) years with the option to extend for three one-year periods.
GPSS is encouraging vendors who could meet the dynamic supply chains requirements that are reliable, responsive, agile and cost effective to express interest in participating in the solicitation exercise with a view to provide fast delivery response time to various UN Missions and Offices .
For the following requirements:
a. Reinforcement Bars
Reinforcement bars are deformed carbon-steel bars for concrete reinforcements in cut lengths of 12 m long (+/- 5%). It shall be Grades 420 (MPA) equivalent to 60,000 psi. It shall comply with requirements of ASTM A615 or AASHTO M31 or BS4449.
b. Equal Angle Iron
Size and dimensions shall be in accordance with the provision of EN 10025, EN10056. Steel angels shall be clean, finished and reasonably free from scale. They shall be free from cracks, surface flaws, laminations and other defects.
c. Rectangular/Square Hollow Sections
Structural Hollow Sections shall comply with EN 10221 or equivalent international standard. It shall be clean, finished and reasonably free from scale.
Hot Rolled I Beam Section
Material property shall comply with EN 10025:2004 or equivalent international standard.
d. Steel Flat Bars
Dimension and tolerance shall comply with the requirements of ASTM A29 Material and mechanical property shall comply with the requirements of ASTM A36
e. Steel reinforcing mesh
Material property shall comply with ASTM A142 or BS 4483.
f. Structural Steel Plates
Material and mechanical property shall comply with the requirements of ASTM A36
g. Binding Wires
Binding wires shall be 1.5-2mm diameter soft annealed iron wire free from rust or other contaminants and shall be manufactured according to “TS EN 10218” Standards. Chemical property shall comply with the requirements of ASTM A510
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS / INFORMATION (IF ANY)
Interested vendors will have to prove and submit the following requirement during solicitation:
a) Product Quality Certification to meet requirements of the specified standard, are suitable for the purpose and are safe from hazards to life and property and conformity of the product to the Standard/s (ISO or equivalent).
b) three (3) references of similar scope of goods by submitting Client’s reference letter, Purchase Order, contracts or completion certificate.
c) List of similar supplies completed by the vendor/company in the last three years. (document to be provided as evidence)
d) where the bidder, is not manufacturer of the items, the bidder shall provide certificate from the respective manufacturer/s certifying that the bidder is recognized as a supplier/distributor/importer.
