Consultancy for Feasibility Studies for Gove-Menongue Transmission Project

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) or Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD) is a multilateral development finance institution. The AfDB was founded in 1964 and comprises three entities: The African Development Bank, the African Development Fund and the Nigeria Trust Fund. The AfDB’s mission is to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that are likely to contribute to the economic and social development of the region. The AfDB is a financial provider to African governments and private companies investing in the regional member countries (RMC).

The Government of Angola has received financing from the AfDB toward the cost of the Energy Sector Efficiency and Expansion Programme Phase I (ESEEP-I), and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this loan, to payments under the contract for the development of the Gove-Menongue Transmission Project Feasibility Study. This study aims to expand the Angolan national grid to Menongue, Cuando Cubango Province.

The services included under this project are carrying out a complete feasibility study for the transmission project up to the bankable stage including techno-economic studies, an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), and a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP). The Feasibility Study will be divided into two parts: (a) Phase I – Preliminary Feasibility Study and Phase II – Detailed Feasibility Study.
