    Item Description:

    The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) or Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD) is a multilateral development finance institution. The AfDB was founded in 1964 and comprises three entities: The African Development Bank, the African Development Fund and the Nigeria Trust Fund. The AfDB’s mission is to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that are likely to contribute to the economic and social development of the region. The AfDB is a financial provider to African governments and private companies investing in the regional member countries (RMC).

    Request for Expression of Interest (REOI)

    The Government of the Republic of Namibia (GRN) has received financing from the AfDB toward the cost of the Namibia Water Sector Support Program. It intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this loan/grant to payments under the contract to provide consultancy services for conducting an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and develop of Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP), for King Kauluma to Omutsegwonime Water Supply Schemes.

    The Objective of the Assignment

    To support the program with conducting an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and develop the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP), for King Kauluma – Omutsegwonime Water Supply Schemes. The assessment study will be conducted in compliance with the Environmental Management Act No 7 of 2007 and conform to international standards, particularly that of the African Development Bank. The consultant will also undertake all steps necessary to support the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (MAWLR) to register and apply for an Environmental Clearance Certificate. The study report will enable the development of measures to ensure the socio-environmental sustainability of the project components are addressed and to avoid, minimize and mitigate the anticipated negative and maximize the positive downstream environmental and social impacts.
