Emergency Assistance to China Public Health Infrastructure Project

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank with a mission to improve social and economic outcomes in Asia. The Ministry of Finance of the P.R. China will receive financing in the amount of US$ 355 million equivalent from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) toward the cost of the Emergency Assistance to China Public Health Infrastructure Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project. This project will be jointly financed by the Beijing Municipal Government under Part 2.

The project will support the improvement of emergency public health infrastructure in two municipalities: Chongqing and Beijing.

Project Components:

The Project consists of two parts:

Part 1: Strengthening of public health emergency response capacity in Chongqing: – Component 1.1: systematic upgrading of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCs) at all administrative levels and the treatment capacity of hospitals in dealing with epidemic emergencies.

– Component 1.2: providing emergency equipment and supplies to help contain the outbreak of COVID-19 in Chongqing.

Part 2: Strengthening of public health emergency response capacity in Beijing:
– Component 2.1: capacity enhancement of the municipal-level CDC and the treatment capacity of municipal hospitals in dealing with epidemic emergencies
– Component 2.2: providing emergency equipment and supplies to help contain the outbreak of COVID-19 in Beijing.
