Item Description:

The World Health Organization (WHO) was established in 1948 as a specialized agency of the United Nations. The objective of WHO (www.who.int) is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health. “Health”, as defined in the WHO Constitution, is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. WHO’s main function is to act as the directing and coordinating authority on international health work.

The WHO Secretariat consists of some 8,400 staff at the Organization’s headquarters in Geneva, in the six regional offices and in countries. The Secretariat is headed by the Director-General, who is appointed by the WHA on the nomination of the Executive Board. The head of each regional office is a Regional Director. Regional directors are appointed by the Executive Board in agreement with the relevant regional committee.

Request for Expressions of Interest (EOI)

The WHO invites vendors to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for medications/pharmaceutical products which address the following objectives:

Supplying lifesaving medicines and medical equipment for WHO cross border operation to North West Syria:

1. 51120000 – Antiarrythmics and antianginals and cardioplegics and drugs for heart failure
2. 51130000 – Hematolic drugs
3. 51150000 – Autonomic nervous system drugs
4. 51160000 – Drugs affecting the respiratory tract
5. 51170000 – Drugs affecting the gastrointestinal system
6. 51180000 – Hormones and hormone antagonists
7. 51190000 – Agents affecting water and electrolytes
8. 51240000 – Drugs affecting the ears, eye, nose and skin
9. 51260000 – Adrenergic blocking agents
10. 51280000 – Antibacterials
11. 51300000 – Antifungal drugs
12. 51310000 – Antihistamines or H1 blockers
13. 51320000 – Antihyperlipidemic and hypocholesterolemic agents
14. 51350000 – Estrogens and progestins and internal contraceptives
15. 51380000 – Nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs NSAIDs
16. 51390000 – Sympathomimetic or adrenergic drugs
17. 51410000 – Vasodilators
18. 51420000 – Corticosteroids
19. 51430000 – Antihypertensive drugs
20. 51450000 – Anthelmintics
21. 42140000 – Patient care and treatment products and supplies
22. 42220000 – Intravenous and arterial administration products

WHO intends to invite selected vendors to participate in a formal solicitation, via a Invitation to Bid (ITB), at a later stage, for the above requirements.  Complete details of the requirements will be included in the solicitation documents.
