    Item Description:

    UNECA would like to acquire backup Internet service through satellite using either the existing antenna at the UNECA Compound or a new system with a state-of-art technology for the UNECA business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) plan.

    UNECA seeks a service provider that can supply, install, test and commission a Satellite communication system with excellent coverage in Africa particularly in Addis Ababa with state of the art technology. The specific requirement of the requested system are listed below, under ” Specifif requirements/Information (if any)”.

    Interested firms should write to the above-mentioned e-mail address to submit their “expression of interest” by the deadline of 24 May 2019 and will be invited to participate in a tender through a “Request for Proposal” (RFP) at a later stage.

    Please note that the UNECA is precluded from entering into contract with a firm that is not fully registered with UNECA. Those interested in responding to this invitation but not currently fully registered as vendors with UNECA, are encouraged to register before submission of the bid. In order to be eligible for UN Registration, please make sure to declare in writing the Prerequisite for Eligibility criteria itemized from A-F as contained in EOI instruction attached.

    The following are the main technical requirement for the proposed solution:

    1. New technology that has efficient, secured and flexible satellite access method for optimized operation and good performance (codding, modulation, FEC, and others);
    2. Efficient service provision (deployment strategy, Network Operating Center (NOC) support plan, Preventive/Corrective maintenance plan);
    3. Scalable (adequate room for further growth) of satellite transponder;
    4. Smooth integration with internal network infrastructure;
    5. Public IP address allocation.
    6. Management and monitoring tools/facilities
