Provision of Renewable Energy

UNMISS wishes to gradually transition its power generation from diesel generators to renewable energy resources, in order to reduce its carbon footprint, reduce its reliance on diesel fuel and meet the Secretary General’s target to transition the UN secretariat to 80% renewable energy by 2030.

To achieve this ambitious target, UNMISS wishes to explore options to outsource the energy supply of its main sites, to an energy service provider who can provide UNMISS with energy coming from renewable sources.

As a first priority UNMISS wishes to find potential energy service providers, who can establish, operate and maintain a renewable energy plant within the fence of the UNMISS Malakal site and sell power to UNMISS at an all-inclusive rate, with a guarantee of origin from renewable energy sources of a minimum of 85%. The potential vendor must possess, or obtain, the right to perform required services for a projected period of five (5) years with a possible extension of an additional five (5) years.
