    Item Description:

    The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) or Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD) is a multilateral development finance institution. The AfDB was founded in 1964 and comprises three entities: The African Development Bank, the African Development Fund and the Nigeria Trust Fund. The AfDB’s mission is to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that are likely to contribute to the economic and social development of the region. The AfDB is a financial provider to African governments and private companies investing in the regional member countries (RMC).

    Invitation for Bids [IFB]

    The Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini has received financing from the African Development Bank hereinafter called the Bank toward the cost of the Mkhondvo- Ngwavuma Water Augmentation Project (MNWAP), and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Construction of the Mpakeni Dam and Associated Works Including the Permanent Access Road.

    The Eswatini Water and Agricultural Development Enterprise (ESWADE) now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for the Construction of the Mpakeni Dam consisting of a clay core rockfill embankment dam 52m high. The dam will have 1,800,000m3 earth/rock/clay fill and 35m wide rectangular spillway with a plunge pool, intake tower with elevated intakes and a 2 x 2D bottom outlets. It also consists of the construction of the Mpakeni Dam Permanent Access Road consisting of a 15km single carriage double lane bitumen sealed road to the Mpakeni Dam site in the Shiselweni Region in Eswatini, for a construction period of 51 months.

    Bidding will be conducted through the Open Competitive Bidding (International), OCBI procedures as specified in the Bank’s “Procurement Framework for Bank Group Funded Operations”, dated 2015”, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org and is open to all eligible Bidders as defined in the Procurement Framework.
