Design, manufacturing and testing of nine different electrical motors which will be used as spares for the motors operating now in the LHC machine

Item Description:

CERN intends to place a contract for the design, manufacturing and testing of nine different electrical motors which will be used as spares for the motors operating now in the LHC machine.

The electrical motors (one pre-series unit and eight series units) are sleeve bearing three-phase squirrel-cage induction type, used as drive for helium compressors. Their power ranges from 300 kW to 1.8 MW, the rotor high varies from 300 mm to 500 mm and the rotational speed is of 3000 round/min. The electrical motors has to be designed for at least 94% efficiency measured at full charged validation test.

Interested firms shall have proven experience and competence in the design and manufacturing of three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors.
