This invitation for pre-qualification follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business No. WB4958-10/16of 31st October, 2016 on-line and Local Newspapers, Zambia DailyMail and Times of Zambia (in Zambia), Sunday Mail and Herald (in Zimbabwe).
The Zambezi River Authority has received loans and grants from the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Swedish Government and the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA); toward the cost of implementation of the Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of these loans and grants to payments under the contract for the Refurbishment of the Kariba Dam Spillway Upstream Control Facility. This contract will be jointly financed by the AfDB, Swedish Government and the World Bank. Bidding will be governed by the World Bank’s eligibility rules and procedures. The Zambezi River Authority intends to prequalify contractors and/or firms for supply, installation and commissioning of a temporary cofferdam, new emergency gate, new maintenance stop beams, related civil works on the embedded parts, new gantry crane and related civil works (including new concrete beam for upstream rail) and electrical works for the mentioned equipment.
The Bidding Documents for the procurement of these works will be prepared based on the World Banks Standard Bidding Document (April 2015 version) – for Works and is based on agreed template between the Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and the International Federation ofConsulting Engineers (FIDIC) and will include amendments to allow the design andprocurement of the gantry crane It is expected that invitations for bids will be made in April, 2017.
Prequalification will be conducted through use of the World Bank’s Standard Prequalification Document for Works July 2016 and prequalification procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January 2011 Revised July2014, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries, as defined in the guidelines.
Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information from and inspect the prequalification document at the Zambezi River Authority Head Office in Lusaka, Zambia (address below) from 0800 to 1230 hours and from 1430 hours 1630 hours local time from Monday to Friday except forpublic holidays. A complete set of the prequalification document in English may be obtained by interested Applicants from the address below uponpayment of a nonrefundable fee of ZMW1000 or US$100 and on furnishing evidence(copy) of such deposit.
Themethod of payment will be Cash or a direct bank deposit to the Zambezi River Authority account; Standard Chartered Bank, Lusaka Main Branch, US$ Account: 87-00-211487-500; SWIFTCode: SCBLZMLX or Kwacha Account: 01-00-110230-800. The document will be provided as a hard copy and may be couriered byexpress mail on payment of a further amount of US$120.00 to cover cost of shipment. Electronic copies may only be sent asunofficial copies for convenience only after hard copies have been sent.
A Pre-Application Meeting will be held on19th January 2016. The Venue and Time details for the meeting are as follows:
