Item Description:
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) , in its capacity of the UN specialized agency for ICT, has been assigned the mandate to assist its Member States, particularly the developing ones, in their effort of IPv6 adoption. That IPv6 deployment need was identified through the following resolutions: WTDC res. 63 (Rev. Buenos Aires, 2017) and WTSA res. 64 (Rev. Hammamet, 2016) where ITU is requested by its Membership to play a leading role in IPv6 migration.
The aim of these ToRs is for ITU to purchase equipment and software for an IPv6 Test Bed implementation in the Republic of Congo that would serve for the country itself and for Central Africa as a whole.
Proposed Architecture
The proposed architecture for the test bed will be the following, made of a core network of 3 routers, each interconnected with an edge/access router that would serve to simulate an IPv6 network that would connect to the core. Different VLANs would be created on the core network to allow tests for different logical networks on the same physical infrastructure. A radius server will be installed to allow dial-up to the network and remote testing of IPv6 deployment. The test bed will be connected to the internet via a dedicated leased line and therefore cannot be installed as a sub network of an existing network; which would have hindered its full capabilities.
