Rehabilitation and Expansion of Water Supply System and Public Sanitation Works in Lamam, Sekong Province

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) was conceived in the early 1960s as a financial institution that would be Asian in character and foster economic growth and cooperation in one of the poorest regions in the world.

ADB assists its members, and partners, by providing loans, technical assistance, grants, and equity investments to promote social and economic development.

The Lao People’s Democratic Republic has received financing from the Asian Development Bank toward the cost of the Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to Bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport through its Department of Water Supply now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the undertaking of water supply and public sanitation works in Lamam, which includes (i) construction of a new river intake with capacity 5,400 m3/day and rehabilitation of existing weir intake from 2,000 to 7,400 m3/day, (ii) supply and laying 2,800m raw water transmission pipe; (iii) a new complete water treatment plant of capacity 5,400 m3/day, construction of 1,850 m3 ground storage tank, a modification of existing pre-sedimentation structure, and detention pond; (iv) supply and laying of 51km new distribution mains, 74km new rider mains, and 540 household connections; (v) construction of a sub-distribution system comprising a pumping well 40 m3 and an elevated reservoir 360 m3 including a booster pumping station; (vi) replacement of existing backwashing pumps; (vii) Build a main PNP office; (viii) construction of drainage and access road to WTP; and (ix) new construction of 20 public toilets.

International Competitive Bidding (ICB) will be conducted in accordance with ADB’s Single-Stage: One-Envelope procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible countries as described in the Bidding Document.
