Consultancy Services for Design and supervision of Construction of the Institute of Marine and Maritime of SUZA and its facilities at Beit El Ras Campus at Unguja Zanzibar

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) or Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD) is a multilateral development finance institution. The AfDB was founded in 1964 and comprises three entities: The African Development Bank, the African Development Fund and the Nigeria Trust Fund. The AfDB’s mission is to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that are likely to contribute to the economic and social development of the region. The AfDB is a financial provider to African governments and private companies investing in the regional member countries (RMC).

The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has received financing from the African Development Bank toward the cost of the Support for Skills Development and Youth Employment in the Blue Economy Project (SEBEP), and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this loan to payments under the contract for Consultancy services for Design and supervision of Construction of the Institute of Marine and Maritime of SUZA and its facilities at Beit El Ras Campus at Unguja Zanzibar.

The objective of the assignment includes services but not limited to Design Administration and Lab block G+2 Floors, Workshop and lab block G+1 Floors, Jetty infrastructure, Swimming pool size 50x25m, External works including soft and hard landscaping, Conduct physical survey, collect all site data, and study/analyses data so as to facilitate carrying out the assignment; however, consultant is liable to verify the correctness of data in geotechnical investigation, Undertake site verification, topographical survey, Review all available data on topographic condition so as to incorporate in the detailed design, Conduct social and environmental studies and ensure that necessary approvals have been obtained from responsible governmental institutions such as ZEMA, interpretation of all data, services received and for the findings and recommendations, Prepare detailed architectural, structural and services (including electrical, plumbing, interior design and landscaping designs and Prepare project progress reports and project closure report

The duration for the implementation of this assignment is Three months (3).

The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Zanzibar now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint- ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.
