Rehabilitation and Expansion of Water Supply System and Public Sanitation Works in Samakkhyxay, Attapeu Province

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) was conceived in the early 1960s as a financial institution that would be Asian in character and foster economic growth and cooperation in one of the poorest regions in the world.

ADB assists its members, and partners, by providing loans, technical assistance, grants, and equity investments to promote social and economic development.

The Lao People’s Democratic Republic has received financing from the Asian Development Bank toward the cost of the Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to Bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport through its Department of Water Supply now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the undertaking of water supply and public sanitation works in Samakkhyxay, which includes (i) construction of a river weir intake with capacity 10,300m3/day, (ii) supply and laying 150m raw water transmission pipe; (iii) a new complete water treatment plant of capacity 10,300m3/day and a pre-sedimentation tank, a sludge pumping well, and detention pond; (iv) construction of 1,500m3 clear water ground reservoir, elevated water reservoir of 1,500m3 including pumping station; (v) supply and laying of 114Km new distribution mains, 124Km new rider mains, and 2,700 household connections; (vi) construction of two sub-distribution system including pumping wells and stations 30m3 and 50m3 and two elevated water reservoirs 300m3 and 350m3; (vii) Build PNP office and meeting room; (vii) supply and install simple SCADA system for monitoring; (viii) construction of access roads to WTP and pumping station; and (ix) new construction of 33 public toilets;

International Competitive Bidding (ICB) will be conducted in accordance with ADB’s Single-Stage: One-Envelope procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible countries as described in the Bidding Document.
