Supply of 250 vacuum vessels for ISOLDE

Item Description:

CERN intends to place a contract for the manufacturing, assembly and testing of an estimated quantity of 250 vacuum vessels for ISOLDE targets over a period of five years, including the following manufacturing processes: precision machining, cleaning for high vacuum, brazing, electron beam welding, and clean room mechanical assembly. Test methods include the control of geometric dimensions, helium vacuum-leak detection, hydraulic over pressure and flow rate tests, and the measurement of electrical parameters.

Interested firms shall have a proven experience and competence in the fields of aluminium vacuum vessel production, procurement and traceability of raw materials, precision machining, clean room assembly for high vacuum applications, metal joining using copper brazing and electron beam welding of aluminium alloys.
